Fix critical OpenCart image problems:

  • enable PNG compression
  • preserve original images when possible
  • make File Manager automatically submit image
  • remove 300 Kb and 1000px image size limitation

+ optional Image White Excess Fix

+ optional Use Images Originals for big images (instead of resampling them all to same size) - also saves a lot of disk space and works nice with image zoom viewers

Are you tired scrolling File Manager to find image you just uploaded? Now it will be submitted automatically, saving valuable time.

Do you know that OpenCart performs recompression for every image - even if size is right? Furthermore, often it saves PNG files without compression at all, making image files really huge!

Have you ever noticed your carefully optimized frontpage slides become 1 Mb each? With this fix your graphics will be intouch - pixel to pixel, bit to bit.

Disable or remove Optimize-Images.xml.

It requires optipng and jpegtran utilities to be installed at your server.

Hello,

Is there any way to test for support of optipng and jpegtran utilities being available on my server, and the right to invoke them with the PHP exec() function? I'm interested in the extension to losslessly compress all the pngs to improve Google Page Insights, but I'm not sure whether my shared Go Daddy hosting supports this.

Many thanks,

Ian

Ian, it will not. Shared hostings doesn't allow exec() function usually. And GoDaddy is one of worst in this terms.

You can change the size of pictures at shop's settings without any extensions. ImageFix doesn't hurt this.

Yep, it is possible to have images with their original proportions (landscape & portrait too). I don't use Skype, but you may contact me with mail - [email protected]

I'm not sure that this is possible to make it work with Journal theme, it is too complicated. But I can try. Send me FTP access details to [email protected]

It optimizes cache images when they are created.
